DTI Advertising FAQ

What is DTI Advertising?

DTI Advertising is a 100% browser-based digital solution for booking, creating, and publishing all forms of digital and print advertising. DTI Advertising is architected for multichannel media companies that sell package buys for all types of ads and marketing campaigns, including Web, print, email, direct mail, inserts, and social media.

Why should we consider DTI Advertising?

There are three business reasons why publishers implement DTI Advertising: to drive digital audience engagement, revenue expansion, and cost performance. DTI Advertising provides your ad sales team with the ability to win business by selling multimedia ads across multiple platforms. Compelling creative tools, mobile sales tools, data-driven customer service, tight integration with CRM and accounting systems are all combined in DTI Advertising. It offers a deep arsenal of sales and marketing tools that provide publishers with a competitive advantage in their markets.

Does it allow for online self-service?

Yes, advertising self-service is at the core of DTI Advertising. From any Web-enabled device, your advertisers can book free or paid liners, display ads and upload camera-ready ads and media files. Customers can also save ads for future bookings. You have control over the look & feel of the booking screens and you can set limits and booking policies. The advertising database will to do all the work of preparing and loading the ads, including matching the ad with existing customer accounts and billing information.

How can it help us manage customer relationships?

DTI Advertising provides all the tools you need. An integrated customer relationship management (CRM) module incorporates sales people into every step of the advertising process – from generating sales leads to order entry, from rating to contract management, from billing to sales reports, from targeted client promotions to direct marketing campaigns. They are able to quickly review billing and accounts receivables, check credit status and contract information, and much more to build and maintain profitable relationships.

Is there a way to leverage our group’s strengths?

Yes. For news media groups, Digital Technology deploys a unique wide area network solution that can connect multiple ad and media asset databases together. This enables each newspaper to share in the spec ads of it sister newspapers, greatly expanding the combined creative resources – and the selling potential of its sales force.

How does it address accounts receivables?

Accounts receivable (A/R) is a core function of the latest version of DTI Advertising. The Digital Technology A/R is full-featured integrated newspaper-specific accounts receivable module. As an option, DTI Advertising can exchange A/R data with other accounting systems via interfaces developed through our Liquid Media™ integration platform.

What are the facilities for pagination?

DTI Advertising includes the industry’s fastest and most flexible classified pagination solution. In addition, DTI Advertising integrates – at the database level – with DTI ContentPublisher. Through the planning module ads – and news content – can automatically flow onto pages according to pre–defined preferences – or a user can manually plan and build the page.

What are my options for planning software?

DTI Advertising has ad planning as built-in functionality. Through our Liquid Media platform, we can also work with existing planning software although some benefits of integrated ad planning may be lost.

How quickly can I obtain ad metrics and other management information?

Meaningful reports and real-time metrics can be generated with point-and-click ease. Advertising managers, sales people, and production managers can get the information they need – when they need it – in time to make the decisions that affect the bottom line.

How long does it take to implement?

It depends upon the scale of your project and our current implementation backlog. The fastest way to implement the software is in DTI Cloud because the cloud computing model eliminates on-premises hardware installation which is a time-consuming phase.

What are the advantages of SaaS versus on-premises?

It depends upon your business objectives and whether you wish to control your own IT infrastructure on-premises or take advantage of the lower TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) of our DTI Cloud SaaS model. DTI will perform a technical site audit and business analysis where various options and associated costs and benefits will be detailed for you.

What training will be required?

DTI takes training very seriously because it ensures that you extract the most value from your investment in our software. We view it as a way to boost your cost performance and accelerate your speed of implementation. In order to reduce your training time, we offer “role-based” training that focuses on a person’s job function rather than traditional soup-to-nuts training on every feature of every module. More and more of our training is available online via webinars and self-paced training.

How do you integrate our existing systems with DTI Advertising?

We use Liquid Media which is our patented integration platform. It enables seamless integration across multiple systems and applications and is designed to work well in SaaS environments. Your specific integration and work flow requirements will be researched, specified and priced.

How are technical problems resolved?

DTI application expertise and technical support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Once notified by you, DTI experts have secured access to resolve issues related to all aspects of the DTI solutions and network services.

Will my data be secure?

Yes. Especially within DTI Cloud where security (and performance) capabilities go far beyond those a newspaper independently could generally afford. DTI Cloud provides single tenancy which means your data is stored separately from other newspapers’ data.

How much does it cost?

That depends upon the scope of the project, number of users and whether you wish to implement on-premises or in DTI Cloud, our SaaS platform. DTI Cloud is similar to a leasing model without capital expenditures and with all support and maintenance included. We can provide you with a precise cost after conducting a site audit, and taking into account your volumes, workflow, and software application requirements.
