May 3, 2006 (Springville, UT) Digital Technology International (DTI) announces that HSS Media Ab in Finland has chosen DTI’s editorial suite to implement across its four newspapers, Vasabladet, Jakobstads Tidning, Syd-Österbotten and Pietarsaaren Sanomat. The former are all Swedish language newspapers distributed in the Swedish speaking areas of Finland, while the latter is a Finnish language newspaper - a first for DTI.
Including the first Finnish language newspaper for DTIHans Boije, CEO at HSS
Media Ab, says: “The DTI solution was chosen for a number of reasons.
Firstly we found that the system included the functionalities that we value
in our process development. We were looking for a flexible solution to help
produce our newspapers, which are published in different cities, but by the
same organization. DTI system’s functionality simplifies layout work as much
as possible, which provides valuable timesavings. We are also particularly
impressed with how open the system is, which will easily adapt to our
workflow.”
Another key reason HSS Media Ab selected DTI was because of its complete
integration with Adobe InDesign. Vasabladet, the largest newspaper in the
group and known as a pioneer in newspaper technology, was the first
newspaper in Europe to use InDesign. HSS liked DTI because it combined the
powerful design capabilities of InDesign with a layout driven and highly
automated workflow.
“Last, but not least, we found that DTI as a company provides reliable and
high quality development routines and above all, has a clear vision for the
future, which we value and also share.”
The DTI editorial system to be installed at HSS Media Ab, incorporates
Adobe’s InDesign and InCopy and consists of:
40 PageSpeed seats – page design and layout application
55
SpeedWriter seats – text editing system
4 PlanSpeed seats –
planning and pagination software which unifies the planning of both
editorial and advertorial content
SpeedDriver – database OPI and
output management solution that allows printing to continue in the
background while the user works on something else without interruption
eWriter – easy remote story filing – enables journalists and outside news
contributors to submit stories to the news database remotely using a web
browser.
Geoff Walker, managing director at DTI, says: “We are
pleased to be awarded this contract. Our business continues to grow in
Finland and our focus on the Nordic region is affording us exciting
opportunities to work with some very talented new partners.”
