Installing 5.5 applications on a Windows workstation
The following Readme describes the steps to install all the files needed to run DTI 5.5 applications (except SpeedManager, WireCapture, ClassSpeed, and AdManage) on a Windows workstation.

Installing the Java Runtime Environment

To install the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) that you need to run DTI’s 5.5 applications complete the following steps.
To install the Java Runtime Environment:

  1. Copy j2re-1_4_2_09-windows-i586-p.exe from DTI’s FTP server to your desktop.
  2. Double click the file to install the Java Runtime Environment to your Windows environment.

Installing Sybase Runtime

To install Sybase Runtime, that you need to run DTI’s 5.5 applications, complete the following steps.
To install Sybase Runtime:

  1. Copy SybaseClient.zip from DTI’s FTP server to your desktop and unzip it.
  2. Unzip ASE125Client.zip.
  3. Open the ASE125Client folder, and double click Setup.exe.
  4. If your machine is new or if its hard drive has been recently formatted, you may receive an error. If you receive an error, complete the following steps:
    1. Right click My Computer and select Properties.
    2. Select the Advanced tab and click Environment Variables.
    3. In the User Variables text box, look for JAVA_COMPILER. If there is no entry, click New to open the New User Variable window.
    4. Enter JAVA_COMPILER in the Variable Name text box and NONE in the Variable Value text box.
    5. Click the OK button three times to confirm your changes and exit.
    6. Open the ASE125Client folder, and double click Setup.exe.
  5. Choose the Standard Sybase Install.
  6. Select the default file location (C:\Sybase) and click Next.
  7. Reboot your machine.

Installing Sybase bug fixes and patches

You must install the bug fixes and patches for Sybase. The fixes and patches are contained in two zip files (ebf11326.zip and ebf11434.zip) in the SybaseClient folder.
To install Sybase bug fixes and patches:

  1. Open the SybaseClient folder.
  2. Unzip ebf11326.zip and ebf11434.zip.
  3. Open the ebf11326 folder, and double click Install.bat.
  4. A command window opens. Enter the letter “a” for All. The batch file runs and closes.
  5. Open the ebf11434 folder and double click Install.bat.
  6. A command window opens. Enter the letter “a” for All. The batch file runs and closes.
  7. Navigate to Control Panel > Administrative Tools, and double click the Data Sources shortcut.
  8. In the ODBC Data Source Administrator panel, select the Drivers tab.
  9. Scroll to the bottom of the list for the entry SQL Server and its version number.

Installing Adobe InDesign 2.0.2 and InCopy 2.0.1

To install Adobe InDesign 2.0.2 and InCopy 2.0.1, complete the following steps.
To install Adobe InDesign 2.0.2:

  1. Copy the InDesign202_Win_Release.zip file to your desktop.
  2. Unzip InDesign202_Win_Release.zip.
  3. Navigate to the Win_InDesign202_Release > Adobe InDesign 2.0.2 folder and run Setup.exe.

To install Adobe InCopy 2.0.1:

  1. Copy the InCopy201_Win_Releases.zip file to your desktop.
  2. Unzip InCopy201_Win_Release.zip.
  3. Navigate to the Win_InCopy201_Release folder and run Setup.exe.
  4. Select “Typical” for the type of install.
  5. Once the install is complete, re-run Setup.exe and select “InCopy plug-ins for InDesign” as the install type.

Running the DTI 5.5 applications

To run the DTI 5.5 applications, complete the following procedures and log in to the system.
To run the DTI 5.5 applications and log in:

  1. Navigate to C:\Program Files and create a folder called DTApps.
  2. Locate and unzip the Loginapp55.zip file.

Note: You do not need to copy InDesign and InCopy to the DTApps folder. InDesign and InCopy will be downloaded from the database when you log in.

  1. Copy the DTLogin folder and the DTLogin.bat and fmung.dll files to the DTApps folder.

You are ready to log in to the database.
