ClassSpeed, the advertising sales component of DTI’s database-centered NewsSpeed Publishing Solution, boasts a number of new features with version release 6.2.

In addition to an extensive feature set and sales-oriented workflow, ClassSpeed is best known for the open database foundation it shares with the rest of DTI’s publishing systems. The database, which serves to efficiently track and manage ads from order entry through the creative and production process to automatic pagination, is also the key to unique cross-selling features, extensive manager reports, and publishing ads directly to the Internet.

A significant change in ClassSpeed is its integration of various contact management features that were previously available through a separate application known as TaskMaster. Now additional sales prompts, appointment scheduling, assignment calendars, pop-up task reminders and an ability to assign tasks are seamlessly integrated as an option, into the main ClassSpeed workflow and interface.

Another of the features new to this version is actually an extension of ClassSpeed’s capability to instantly apply groups of text and graphic styles called formats, to a liner in a single step. Now, a classified sales rep can request a WYSIWYG preview of all the available formats applied to a line ad - side by side, complete with rate information, in a single window. One click and the chosen format is applied to the advertisement, and it’s ready for pagination.

Similarly useful to increasing sales, and helpful in maintaining customer satisfaction, is the ability to view the availability of special position requests at the time of booking (before planning). Users are able to check, and make sure requested positions are indeed available. Sales reps can then schedule the ads in the requested position, and quickly check similar availability on different days and in different editions as well, facilitating cross-selling opportunities.

ClassSpeed is much more than a sales order entry program. It empowers a sales person to make more sales (for print and/or the Internet); to schedule, rate and create classified lineage; to schedule and route display advertisements to production; and to manage the entire sales function.
