PlanSpeed is the application that unifies the planning and pagination of NewsSpeed, AdSpeed and ClassSpeed. With PlanSpeed the various DTI applications can share information directly, through a central database, as opposed to the common solution of passing information through an interface. PlanSpeed displays an accurate, real–time view of what is happening on each page of a publication.
Using PlanSpeed an editor or paginator will be able to plan and track pages, watching editorial, display ads and classifieds coming together in single plan. PlanSpeed shows what is happening on each page of the newspaper. Once a page is complete and ready to go, it can be sent to film from PlanSpeed through SpeedDriver, DTI’s output management software.
PlanSpeed includes the functionality of Adobe InDesign, plus several newspaper–specific, production–enhancing features and plug–ins from DTI. PlanSpeed maintains plans, ad, story, and media files in central databases, allowing users at a site immediate access to all publishing production elements at all stages of development. PlanSpeed is cross-platform and works the same on both Windows and Macintosh operating systems.
PlanSpeed enables editorial and advertising personnel to work simultaneously on the same plan and see what the others are doing. PlanSpeed automatically flows ads onto pages according to pre–defined preferences or it can be configured to allow the user to flow ads by page, main section, classification or all at once. The operator can then refine the layout manually.
Using PlanSpeed, paginators can see multiple plans side–by–side, on the same screen, at the same time. Also, making the same changes to multiple pages can be done in a single step. A paginator can select a group of pages, make changes, and apply the changes to all of the selected pages at once.
Page designers can move, copy, or share multiple pages between plans. Any combination of pages within a page set can be selected and dragged and dropped onto a different page in the target plan. The pages will appear on pages relative to their original positions.
