NEW ORLEANS’ TIMES–PICAYUNE SELECTS PBS CIRCULATION SYSTEM

MediaPlus® Circulation Solutions Will Modernize Circulation Operations

Salt Lake City, Utah, – January 25, 2007 – Publishing Business Systems, North America’s leading source for integrated enterprise-wide newspaper business software systems, today announced that in an initiative to update its circulation computer system, The Times–Picayune has signed an agreement to license the PBS MediaPlus® Circulation suite of solutions. The Times–Picayune is the major daily newspaper serving the New Orleans area and is owned by the Advance Publications media company.

Ray Massett, vice president and general manager of The Times–Picayune, said, “In our search for the right circulation system, we met with PBS representatives several times. It is important that we have a system that is able to grow with us and respond to changes in the newspaper industry. Because of the current extensive functionality in the PBS system and the fact that it is continually being enhanced, we are confident that MediaPlus Circulation will prove to be a good long–term investment.”

Built into MediaPlus Circulation are some unique tools that can increase productivity, automate manual tasks, and streamline marketing activities. “I’m looking forward to taking advantage of some of the marketing capabilities within the system, such as demographic profiling, to better target opportunities and build our subscriber base,” said Philip Ehrhardt, vice president of circulation for The Times–Picayune. “Demographic profiling will also allow our customer service representatives to provide even better service to our subscribers.”

The Times–Picayune also licensed two complementary online, self–service applications: MediaPlus® iServices Subscriber and MediaPlus® iServices Distribution. Once in place, the applications will provide added convenience and efficiency to both employees and customers. iServices Subscriber makes it easy for new customers to start a subscription, and will give existing customers the ability to view or change their subscription information themselves, entirely through the Internet. iServices Distribution allows independent contractors and employees easy access to the information they need for distribution accounting online. Additional applications licensed are MediaPlus® Circulation InSight, an analysis and reporting tool, and MediaPlus® InsertPlus, which aids insert planning and delivery. All are integrated with the core MediaPlus Circulation system.

MediaPlus Circulation, available with Oracle® or Progress database compatibility, is being installed on Oracle for The Times–Picayune.
