OTTAWAY LICENSES DTI MEDIAPLUS® CIRCULATION AND MEDIAPLUS® ADVERTISING
Systems integration will improve service levels and increase data integrity
Salt Lake City, Utah, – July 10, 2007 – Digital Technology International, committed to supporting the future of the global news industry as a leading provider of innovative, enterprise–wide publishing software solutions, today announced that Ottaway has agreed to license several DTI solutions, including MediaPlus® Circulation and MediaPlus® Advertising. For Ottaway, key criteria in selecting a vendor was the ability to provide a total solution including advertising, circulation and pagination and the ability to achieve a high level of integration between those applications to support current and future business objectives.
Owned by Dow Jones and based in Campbell Hall, New York, Ottaway publishes eight daily newspapers in California, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Oregon and Pennsylvania. The papers have a combined daily circulation of 275,000 and 303,000 on Sunday.
"With eight dailies in seven locations, we need to work more efficiently," said Carol Roosa, director of Business and Publishing Applications for Ottaway. "We also needed to standardize our business processes. Doing so wasn’t feasible or affordable with our current systems, some of which were already more than 10 years old, so we knew we needed to seek out new solutions."
Ottaway began its search at Nexpo in 2006 and then sent a Request for Proposal to a select group of vendors. After thorough review, Ottaway selected two finalists and invited them to demo their solution.
"DTI understands the needs of the industry," said Roosa. "The CRM component of the DTI software, in addition to providing the ability to identify a classified advertising customer as a subscriber or non–subscriber, will allow us to improve the level of service we provide to our customers. Further, the common household database eliminates a significant volume of the data that is duplicated between our current advertising and circulation systems. By reducing the duplication, we improve the integrity of our data."
MediaPlus Circulation is a comprehensive, revenue–generating system that expertly manages the entire circulation business cycle, from processing subscriber information to delivering the newspaper. Ottaway is also installing three other DTI MediaPlus Circulation solutions: iServices Subscriber, a self–service application that allows subscribers to manage their own account information; List MatchPlus, which makes it easy to upload demographic and other data for prospecting and direct marketing; and Circulation InSight, which manages subscriber information.
In addition, Ottaway will install MediaPlus Advertising, a collection of integrated, customer–centric solutions designed to improve every aspect of advertising, from sales to scheduling to ad creation. The advertising solutions licensed by Ottaway include Classified Advertising and Display Advertising, both of which make selling ads easier; Pagination, which formats ads in record time; and iServices Order Entry, an online self–service order–entry system for classified ads.
