SELF-SERVICE CAPABILITIES KEY TO THE CORPUS CHRISTI CALLER-TIMES PURCHASE OF MEDIAPLUS® SOLUTIONS
MediaPlus® Classified Advertising and MediaPlus® iServices expected to increase customer satisfaction and boost online classified sales
Salt Lake City, Utah, – March 12, 2007 – To increase online classified sales and improve a host of customer offerings, the Corpus Christi Caller–Times, Corpus Christi, Texas, has licensed MediaPlus® Classified Advertising and MediaPlus® iServices Order Entry from Publishing Business Systems which was recently acquired by Digital Technology International, committed to supporting the future of the global news industry as a leading provider of innovative, enterprise–wide publishing software solutions. The newspaper is already a licensee of MediaPlus® Circulation and MediaPlus® Ad Management.
“Our current system no longer meets our needs; it’s outdated and has very limited functionality,” said Steve Kendrick, IT director of the Corpus Christi Caller–Times. “MediaPlus Classified Advertising goes above and beyond the capabilities of our current system. It offers us more flexibility and increased functionality that will take our business to the next level and help us achieve our long range plans.”
Kendrick continued, “Our goal is to use MediaPlus iServices Order Entry as an integral part of our classified ad offerings and a strategy to increase ad revenue and reinforce public perception that we have cutting–edge technology. Sending a letter is 18th century, picking up the phone is 20th century and interacting on the web is 21st century.”
Corpus Christi Caller–Times, daily circulation 62,058, is a member of the Scripps family of newspapers — the nation’s ninth largest newspaper chain. Scripps Newspapers include daily and community newspapers in 18 markets and the Washington–based Scripps Media Center, home to the Scripps Howard News Service.
MediaPlus Classified Advertising offers nine up–selling options and automatically updates the price of the ad as options are selected. The software provides classified sales representatives with on–screen sales tips for soliciting additional information from customers, which can increase lineage. MediaPlus Classified Advertising gives the sales representative the ability to schedule priority placements, send e–mail proofs, view a record of past placements by the customer, and identify whether the advertiser is also a subscriber. If not, a new subscription can be initiated with a click of a mouse.
In addition to MediaPlus Classified Advertising and iServices Order Entry, the Corpus Christi Caller–Times has licensed MediaPlus® Pagination. Pagination flows ads in record time so newspapers have more time to sell and can extend their deadlines.
MediaPlus Classified Advertising, available with Oracle® or Microsoft® SQL database compatibility, is being installed on SQL for the Corpus Christi Caller–Times.
