KITSAP SUN INSTALLS PBS MEDIAPLUS® CLASSIFIED ADVERTISING
System to Help Standardize Operations with Other Scripps–owned Newspapers
Minneapolis, MN – February 16, 2006 – Publishing Business Systems, North America’s leading source for integrated enterprise–wide newspaper business software systems, today announced that the Kitsap SUN has licensed PBS MediaPlus® Classified Advertising, a comprehensive system that manages all aspects of classified advertising.
Based in Bremerton, Wash., the Kitsap SUN has daily circulation of 30,000 and Sunday circulation of 33,000. The paper is owned by Cincinnati–based E.W. Scripps, the nation’s ninth largest newspaper publisher. Scripps owns daily and community newspapers in 18 U.S. markets.
"Installing MediaPlus Classified Advertising is an important step for our paper," said Dan Lee, information technology director, Kitsap SUN. "We’ve been using MediaPlus® Circulation and MediaPlus® Ad Management for many years. By integrating those PBS solutions with MediaPlus Classified Advertising, we’re able to connect our core business systems."
What’s more, the Kitsap SUN is now able to align more closely with its parent company and other Scripps newspapers, most of which have or are also installing PBS solutions. "Because we’re all using the same PBS solutions, we have one consolidated system, which allows us to streamline operations, share data and improve profitability," said Lee. The Kitsap SUN and other Scripps newspapers can also easily share best practices.
In addition to MediaPlus Classified Advertising, the Kitsap SUN is also installing MediaPlus® iServices Order Entry and MediaPlus® Pagination. iServices Order Entry is an online, self–service order–entry system that gives classified advertisers the ability to place, proof and pay for ads from a newspaper’s Web site. MediaPlus Pagination is a classified ad–pagination system that uses standard drag–and–drop technology and ad–snapping features so classified ads can be laid out with the single click of a button.
MediaPlus Classified Advertising, which is being installed on a Microsoft® SQL database for the Kitsap SUN, is also available with Oracle® database compatibility.
