Further Expansion at DTI

New application specialist and project manager appointed

May 25, 2006 (Brentwood, UK) Digital Technology International (DTI) has announced the appointments of Alan Tagg as an application specialist and Laura Calvert as a project manager at the Brentwood office in the UK.

Alan’s new role will involve installing and configuring DTI’s applications on site in customers’ production, editorial and IT departments. Alan will also be responsible for training end users during the installation of a publishing system. Geoff Walker, managing director at DTI, says: “Now working with a system vendor, Alan’s experience has previously been on the customer side. He will therefore be bringing important knowledge to his new role and the insight gained will be extremely valuable when going live with a new system. I’m sure that Alan will prove to be a real asset to the DTI team.”

Alan has held a number of roles within the newspaper industry, including a pre–press IT support role at Independent News and Media (Regionals). More recently, Alan worked at Archant Publishing where he was deputy production manager. He managed a team of 30 pre–press staff and was responsible for overseeing the complete production process including the smooth running of the department, ensuring that all newspaper titles met the required print and publishing deadlines.

Laura’s new role will involve developing project plans, managing risks, ensuring open communications with customers and bringing projects to a successful and timely conclusion, on budget.

“In light of DTI’s continued new business success in the UK, we felt it necessary to strengthen our team in order to continue to provide excellent support to our customers. Laura previously worked at The Financial Times newspaper and will be bringing important industry knowledge and experience to the role here at DTI,” said Walker.

As a project trainer at The Financial Times, Laura gained strong experience of an IT system roll out, where she worked as part of a programme implementation team on a large–scale programme, replacing 14 legacy systems in a production critical editorial environment.
