PBS TO DEMONSTRATE NEW ELECTRONIC TEARSHEET FEATURE AT NEXPO 2005

Feature facilitates electronic viewing and storage of tearsheets

Minneapolis, MN, – March 7, 2005 – Publishing Business Systems, North America’s leading source for integrated enterprise–wide newspaper business software systems, today announced that it will it will demonstrate a new feature of its MediaPlus® Display Advertising application at the NEXPO 2005 conference in Dallas, Texas. The feature allows newspapers to provide electronic tearsheets to display advertisers that request them.

Advertisers that have requested an electronic tearsheet are identified by a checkbox that has been added to the advertiser preference information in the MediaPlus Display Advertising application. An e–mail is generated and sent to the advertiser once all page placement information has been entered for display ads. Information in the e–mail is user–defined, so newspapers can include any booking information they choose. All e–mail notifications can be sent in one step.

In order to reduce the file size of the e–mail, the electronic tearsheet is not sent with the e–mail. Instead, the e–mail contains a link to an electronic version (PDF) of the tearsheet stored on the newspaper’s web server. An advertiser can view the tearsheet and choose whether to save a copy to their local drive. To reduce the number of e–mails the advertiser receives, an e–mail can contain links to more than one tearsheet.

Newspapers using this feature can reduce the amount of manual labor involved in preparing hard–copy tearsheets, along with decreasing their mailing costs. Advertisers benefit by seeing the tearsheet sooner, and can alleviate storage space by saving an electronic version of their ad instead of a hard copy.

MediaPlus Display Advertising is a comprehensive system that gives display advertisers more options and newspaper sales reps the best tools to deliver great service.
