THE ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER SELECTS MEDIAPLUS® CIRCULATION
PBS circulation system offers features for the paper to enhance its customer service
Minneapolis, MN, – March 18, 2005 – Publishing Business Systems, North America’s leading source for integrated enterprise–wide newspaper business software systems, today announced that after conducting a search for a new circulation system, Freedom Orange County Information, publisher of The Orange County Register, has selected MediaPlus® Circulation from PBS. The announcement was made from the NEXPO trade show in Dallas, TX.
The Orange County Register, a 307,205 circulation daily, is the largest of 28 daily newspapers operated by Freedom Communications, Inc., a privately–held company that ranks as the nation’s 11th largest newspaper company (by daily circulation). The Register joins The Gazette in Colorado Springs and Freedom’s collection of community newspapers in adopting PBS solutions. The Register chose PBS to replace its older, mainframe–based system with the more intuitive and user–friendly graphical–based MediaPlus Circulation system.
In its search, the Register was looking for a system that would not only help its team be more productive, but help them enhance their customer service. "We have a deep commitment to deliver excellent customer service to our subscribers and distribution partners. MediaPlus Circulation will give our customer service team easy access to all the information they need to quickly respond to customer needs," noted Larry Riley, vice president of Circulation at the Register.
The paper also plans to take advantage of several unique capabilities in MediaPlus Circulation, including Target Marketing, a feature that is used to segment markets by household or lifestyle demographics to generate targeted marketing campaigns. Target Marketing aids in the distribution of campaigns by direct mail, telemarketing, or e–mail delivery, and helps to measure the results by tracking and analyzing campaign activity. This feature can also be used to assign follow up activities to customer service representatives to pursue during downtime. For example, through the system, CSRs can be assigned tasks to make calls to validate new starts, welcome new subscribers, follow up on complaints and more. "The features that MediaPlus Circulation offers will give us the opportunity to be more proactive and efficient with our resources," said Riley.
