Digital Technology International Taps Norwegian Market Leader Escenic as Source of New Web Publishing Technology

Control of newspaper web sites is moving back into the newsroom from separate Internet departments – but to achieve a more unified print/web strategy newspapers need not leave leading Internet tools behind.

March 19, 2005 (Nexpo – Dallas, TX) Digital Technology International (DTI) today announced that they have signed a contract with Escenic of Norway to integrate and resell Escenic Content Studio as a part of the DTI PageSpeed Web Publisher Suite.

Escenic Content Studio is an advanced, yet easy-to-use tool for publishing of all forms of digital content to digital media like Web (Intranet, Extranet, Internet), WAP, SMS, PDA.

“Escenic’s Web publishing technology meshes well with the unified publishing and content management platform that DTI has built,” says DTI CEO Don Oldham. “Our philosophy for Web publishing is that print and the Web are complementary media which can be leveraged to establish a stronger brand than could be achieved with either one on its own. Our technical philosophy is similar in that content for both should be managed centrally – not in two completely separate systems – with media–specific tools for production. Escenic provides advanced controls for getting this centrally–managed content, including movies, onto Web sites.”

“This OEM agreement with DTI proves that our products are widely accepted by the news industry. Escenic is the Web specialist for news and portal providers, and provides complementary technologies to DTIs solutions, even for new media channels like mobile Internet and Web broadcasts,” says Escenic CEO, Øyvind Ørbæk.

Escenic solutions are currently used for Web publishing in over 240 Web sites in 9 countries, mostly news providers and portals. Newspapers currently using Escenic include Aftenposten, De Telegraaf (Hollands leading newspaper with circulation of 870 000, and the country’s most visited news site), A–Pressen (centralized operation of 48 newspaper sites), and Sydsvenskan, Sweden’s 4th largest morning newspaper (with approximately 330,000 daily readers) and the countrys 6th most visited news site.
