CONSOLIDATED PUBLISHING COMPANY LICENSES SUITE OF PBS MEDIAPLUS® SOLUTIONS
Integrated System to Improve Company’s Efficiency, Productivity, Revenue and Market Position
Minneapolis, MN, – January 11, 2005 – Publishing Business Systems (PBS), North America’s leading source for integrated enterprise–wide newspaper business software systems, has signed an agreement to provide its entire suite of MediaPlus® solutions to Consolidated Publishing Company of Anniston, Ala. The company publishes The Anniston Star (daily circulation: 26,000), and The Daily Home (daily circulation: 10,000). Both publications serve the Anniston–Talledega market. The company also publishes four weeklies and eight advertising publications.
Consolidated Publishing Company needed an integrated, modern business system for its new, $16–million printing facility to increase productivity and revenue, allow for the enterprise–wide sharing of information and ensure the company maintains its leadership position in the years ahead. The company is among the first customers to use the entire suite of MediaPlus solutions, which include Advertising, Circulation, Production and Business.
"With our new state–of–the–art facility to house the production of our publications, we wanted an integrated, one–source system that would allow us to easily share data between departments and generate user–friendly reports," said Ed Fowler, vice president for operations, Consolidated Publishing Company. "We wanted to work with an industry leader to ensure we were buying solutions that would keep up with our growing needs. We looked at many products, and were really impressed with PBS. Their products are also easy for our employees to learn how to use."
Consolidated Publishing Company installed MediaPlus® Circulation in 2003 and added the other MediaPlus solutions in 2004. "So far, we’ve been pleased with PBS," said Fowler. "For instance, month–end reports that used to take six to eight hours to run, now take less than two. In fact, in the time it takes me to get a cup of coffee, I can run the reports I need.
"Increasing ad rates and analyzing accounts receivable is easier, and so is meeting the needs of our customers. Because PBS designs its products with the end user in mind, it’s easy for our customer service representatives to move from screen to screen. As a result, they can handle more calls, making them more productive. And because callers don’t have to wait as long, they’re more satisfied. Now that all operations are integrated, we look forward to making even greater use of the features and capabilities PBS offers."
