Newsplex Directorate Member DTI

DTI has joined with IFRA and the College of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of South Carolina to support a project aimed at becoming the prototype newsroom of the future.

The Newsplex is a facility, which was designed to become a micro–newsroom for demonstration, training and research in next-generation news handling methods and technologies. It will be located at and operated in cooperation with the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC, USA.

It is backed by a directorate, and supported by an international affiliation of leading media education and training institutions. The Newsplex Directorate constitutes an advisory committee of the world’s most aggressively forward–thinking media organizations and media technology developers who will oversee and support operation of the training and research center. DTI is the first member of the Directorate.

The Newsplex will be available to help the news industry develop and prove unfamiliar technologies and non-traditional workflows, serving as a live laboratory. It will also provide leading-edge training for journalists and will help define the skills that will be necessary for success in an evolving news industry.
