DTI Announces Alliance With InfiNet

DTI expects to make the database part of its solutions available via a managed application service offering from InfiNet under a strategic relationship.

(February 28, 2001) – Digital Technology International (DTI) has delivered publishing solutions based on its unique unified data model to daily newspapers around the world. Now, furthering the company’s reputation for innovation and technology leadership, DTI expects to make the database part of its solutions available via a managed application service offering from InfiNet under a strategic relationship that the companies announced today. InfiNet is the leading application service provider (ASP) serving the newspaper industry.

“Our scalable database architecture – physically distributed but logically unified – is ideally suited for delivery from central data centers,” said DTI CEO Don Oldham. “As a matter of fact, many of our customers have hosted databases for sister newspapers for years. Some of the same cost–saving benefits these customers have achieved with this model will be made possible through InfiNet’s database hosting model.”

DTI’s unified data model incorporates all of a newspaper’s advertising and editorial content. This enhances productivity today while providing a uniform format to support future delivery and presentation strategies. Locations within a newspaper group can share any type of content.

Established in 1981 as a division of Oldham Associates, DTI is still owned and operated by its founders, and has enjoyed an unbroken record of profitable growth. The company’s processes are ISO 9001–94 certified.

InfiNet CEO Steve Fuschetti said his company is pleased to count DTI among its partners. “We are gratified to see that newspaper companies and their established suppliers so quickly grasp the compelling benefits of the InfiNet ASP approach. These include a lower total cost of ownership, faster and surer implementations, and a solution to chronic skills shortages and staffing challenges.”
