FORUM COMMUNICATIONS LICENSES INTEGRATED CIRCULATION AND ADVERTISING SOLUTIONS FROM PBS
27 newspapers to benefit from the ability to share customer data across departments
Chicago, IL, – January 29, 2004 – Publishing Business Systems (PBS), North America’s leading source for integrated enterprise–wide newspaper business software systems, announced today that Forum Communications Company has licensed its fully integrated circulation and advertising solutions. Forum Communications, a 125 year–old newspaper and communications company, owns a collection of 27 daily, weekly, and bi–weekly newspapers in North Dakota, South Dakota, and Minnesota.
Following the acquisition of several properties over recent years, Forum Communications wanted to replace their existing disparate advertising and circulation systems and standardize with a single vendor solution. They wanted a solution that would meet the functional needs of all their properties, and that they could install and maintain from their central data center in Fargo, ND. With the ability to satisfy these requirements and offer the added benefit of integration between the circulation and advertising systems, Forum Communications VP and COO, Lloyd Case, knew that PBS had the right solution for his company. Case notes, “In our organization, everyone contributes to the success of the operation. The integrated solution from PBS supports our team approach by allowing us to effectively share information throughout our enterprise”.
For Forum Communications, PBS will deliver its MediaPlus® Circulation Management system and AdPlus™ Advertising Management system which includes classified, display, and production applications. These systems will be integrated through a central customer infobase that will allow the newspapers to share customer information across departments, including demographic data and their collective history as a subscriber and/or advertiser. For Forum Communications CIO, Mark Hayes, standardizing their applications within a central data center means more efficient system support and maintenance – and more opportunities for business growth. Hayes comments, “This approach will not only provide us with more information about our business, but more information on our customers that we can use to generate new subscription opportunities and create more targeted advertising programs. We view the PBS system as a smart investment in our future.”
