The Telegraph Media Group's Integrated NewsroomDTI Solutions
DTI Technologies
Telegraph Media Group (TMG) was one of the first major newspaper publishers in the world to implement a bespoke multi-channel, multimedia newsroom. With what was then a new building and exciting new ideas, DTI was given responsibility of turning TMG's vision into a reality.
Centred around Caché, a high performance post-relational, object-oriented database, DTI developed a powerful data and applications architecture and delivered a solution that integrates news production cross-media and to multiple publishing channels. Control of all editorial content was given to one team of multi-skilled journalists. They were trained for the new multimedia, news on-demand world. The newspaper's Website, Telegraph.co.uk, currently reaches more than 18.5 million users each month and is the UK's fastest growing newspaper website. TMG was already using DTI's integrated editorial and advertising solution for printed products, and then created the technology behind a uniquely integrated newsroom - a single Total Content Management Solution. It integrates seamlessly into the newsroom, it supports open standards and it's scalable. The integrated newsroom is online and productive and Telegraph.co.uk remains consistently one of the most visited UK newspaper sites. Today the solution provides the most advanced features available for both print and digital publishing. While there are Web technology vendors that offer print as a ‘bolt-on', and pre-press technology vendors that offer Web publishing as a ‘bolt-on', DTI is probably the only supplier able to provide a sophisticated single solution for both digital and Web publishing - right into the newsroom. |
