Público Enhances Efficiency with Single Web and Print DTI Content Management Solution

Enables editors to dynamically publish to any channel

Digital Technology International (DTI™) has today announced that Público, one of Portugal's leading daily newspapers, has invested in DTI Lightning, a single solution for publishing multimedia content to any media channel.

Published in Lisbon and Porto, Publico's highly-regarded website provides content formatted for mobile, RSS, Twitter and iPhone channels.

Público, which has been a DTI customer for more than ten years, and where more than 160 staff use DTI's advertising, editorial and production software, is recognized for both high quality content and design. As with any well-managed business however, it constantly strives to maximize productivity and efficiency.

"DTI Lightning software will allow editors to publish content dynamically from the DTI databases to print, Web and other digital channels in a single, simultaneous operation," said Luis Paulo Oliveira, Público IT systems manager. "This will replace the need to export XML data to a separate Web publishing system, and this will allow us to publish breaking news online more quickly, reduce the potential for error, and minimize our costs."

DTI Lightning provides a simple-to-use, non-technical environment in which to create and manage all content - print and digital. It enables virtually any element including images, video clips, audio clips and URL links to be placed within a digital story, and stylizes the content to the required delivery channel - without the need to know any HTML or other code. Stories can be published online within seconds of being written. Using the same GUI the user can also send a different version of the story, with any changes to the headline, images or content, to the print workflow for pagination and production. The single multidimensional database means that relationships and progress can be tracked at all times - an essential ingredient for Público's 24/7 publishing environment.
